“Bottled it”, “I like the honesty” – Loads of Sunderland fans react to star’s promotion message

Loads of Sunderland fans have been reacting to Monday’s draw at Peterborough, as Max Power sent out a message to the Black Cats faithful.

Sunderland may have missed their chance for automatic promotion, dropping points at the ABAX Stadium on Monday while Barnsley and Portsmouth both won their respective matches.

The Black Cats played out a hard-fought encounter with a Peterborough side who are themselves pushing for a play-off place, and it wasn’t until the 87th minute that Power opened the scoring in the tie.

The ecstasy soon turned to agony though, as Matt Godden equalised in stoppage time to force an even share of the points.

And while Jack Ross’ side will now have to rely on Barnsley to drop points, Power is feeling optimistic.

“We’ve now got to take nine points from our remaining three games and see where it takes us,” he said.

The 25 year-old has endeared himself to the fans on Wearside with his positive play and attitude this season, but the Twitter reactions down below appear to be split on his promotion message…
