Manchester United fans on Twitter have been busy stressing their desire to see as little pressure as possible placed on the shoulders of rising star Mason Greenwood.
The 17-year-old forward has already been handed his Premier League debut and Champions League debut under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thanks to his scintillating form at youth level, where he has recorded some outstanding numbers.
Who would win out of Man Utd’s treble winners and Man City today? Fans discuss in the video below…
Greenwood has scored 39 goals and recorded 11 assists over the course of the last two seasons, and is equally adept at finding the back of the net with either foot – he scored a stunning left-footed freekick against Newcastle, before netting an excellent curled effort against Derby more recently with his right foot.
However, after young United prospects from years gone by – such as James Wilson, Will Keane and Ashley Fletcher – failed to fulfil their potential, plenty of the Red Devils supporters on Twitter are hoping that Greenwood will be allowed to develop at his own pace…

Another English talent who won’t live up to expectation because of posts like this. Overhyping too soon.

Ashley fletcher was rated more highly than Marcus Rashford in 2015 but look at where both players are now
Academy statistics aren’t really anything to go by
Stop putting so much pressure on these young players

Let’s appreciate it … But let’s not blow it out of proportion. He’s already had his debut and it was good, but let’s give him time to come in without the unnecedsaary pressure

James Wilson, Januzaj, Welbeck, Lingard, Macheda, Will Keane, Tunnicliffe, Cleverley and so many many others that supposed to be wonderful players too. I’d rather wait a little longer with this guy.

Lots of players over the years had similar numbers and failed to make it at the club. Everyone (even Ole) needs to calm down and avoid putting a spotlight on him.

How many in the first team though? We shouldn’t be hyping them or it’ll get in their heads.

Promising English talent but let’s not overhype him too soon, let him keep doing his thing and progressing his game. Hope he keeps a level head, bright future ahead for this lad
