“It’s out of my hands” – QPR man adds to ongoing uncertainty at Loftus Road

QPR’s future has plunged deeper into uncertainty in recent weeks, with Steve McClaren’s ironic sacking on April Fools Day followed by a 4-0 thumping by Norwich at Carrow Road on Saturday. The R’s have been in free-fall for much of 2019 and are now in a relegation battle that they really shouldn’t be in, given the talent they’ve got on paper.

On-pitch struggles aside, the Hoops may soon have to give up W12 if they cannot move into the Linford Christie Stadium, with Loftus Road – one of the Championship’s smallest grounds – surely deemed no longer fit for purpose, while their search for a new manager continues.

To make matters worse, there are a number of players who could leave on a free in the summer if they cannot agree new deals, including Angel Rangel, who had this to say on his future at the club:

“It’s about trying to get to that level that I probably got before the injury where I thought I was performing well, and if I can do that until the end of the season, hopefully we can have (contract) talks.

“I’m happy staying here for next season but it’s out of my hands – all I can do is do my best every day in training and in the games and we’ll go from there.”

The QPR keeper was giving it large to Bolton fans at the weekend. Find out who had the last laugh in the video below…

The Spaniard was given a chance to keep plying his trade in the Championship by McClaren in the summer and impressed enough for his deal to be extended to the summer, although once the season is up he could be in limbo again.

It hasn’t been an easy ride for the former Swansea man, whose time at QPR has been shortened by injury, although he remains hopeful that he will be able to impress whoever McClaren’s successor is and earn a new deal at the club.
