32 y/o showered with praise by loads of Palace fans – “Pure class”, “Has saved us this season”

Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to laud Vicente Guaita for his performance against Newcastle, in which the stopper managed to record another shutout.

The Eagles have now kept 11 clean sheets in the Premier League this season, the fourth most in the division behind Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea, and that good statistic is largely down to the Spanish keeper.

He found himself out of the side throughout the first half of the campaign as Wayne Hennessey had the shirt, although since making his debut against Leicester at Selhurst Park, Guaita has shone.

In the 1-0 win against the Magpies, the former Getafe glovesman pulled off a number of vital saves, most notably from Matt Ritchie and Salomon Rondon – it was the sixth clean sheet from his 14 league appearances this term, from which Palace have seven wins.

Palace fans on Twitter were delighted with their man’s performance at St James’ Park, and were keen to emphasise their feelings on the 32-year-old after having to put up with the mistake-ridden Hennessey for so long…
